Shortly after graduating from Drexel, I joined the Structural Engineering department at Associated Engineering Consultants, Inc. I have worked on a variety of projects that span from large apartment buildings to a firehouse in the city. On these projects I have been tasked to calculate lateral loads as well as gravity loads going down through the building. The second main task has been designing structural components such as steel beams and columns, wood headers, and concrete footings. Structural design and structural analysis have been a large part of my position. I use a variety of different resources for the design of these projects. These sources include ASCE 7 standards, the ATC Hazards website for lateral design, as well as the ASD Steel Manual. The main programs I use in this position are AutoCAD, REVIT, and SIZER.

My final co-op was at Mainstay Engineering Group. It was a great experience and I learned more software skills using programs such as AutoDesk Revit and RAM Structural Systems, as well as slightly learning and calculating different loads for structures.

I worked at SNC-Lavalin as a structural engineer. I learned a lot with this position including programs including Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Edgewise, and Bluebeam. During the experience I worked on many different projects and mostly worked on mark-ups. One task I had was to use the program Edgwise to take a 3D model of a building and make a pipe model into other programs such as revit and Navisworks.

I worked for McMahon Associates for my first Co-op at Drexel. My role was part of the design team. I mostly worked with AutoCad and did a variety of tasks. These tasks ranged from printing out plans to working on plans and doing markups.
