Human rights and foreign policy advocacy and writing. Wrote Working Paper on Transforming the Minneapolis Police Department to Conform with the Rule of Law. Established Minnesota Alliance for Sustainable Pension Investment to lobby Minnesota State Board of Investment and Minnesota Legislature on implementation of Environmental Social and Governance ESG) investing criteria for state pension investments.Successfully lobbied Minnesota legislature for amendments to Minnesota laws on insurance coverage for treatment for autism. Advocated for marriage equality in Minnesota. Wrote advocacy articles and advocated for U.S. Congress on accountability for torture. Prepared draft bill to enhance U.S. Anti-Torture Act that was signed into law by President Obama as Section 1045 to 2016 National Defense Authorization Act on November 25, 2015.Lobbied on foreign policy issues in the Middle East and Northern Africa. Successfully lobbied to obtain the release of Senate Intelligence Committee Report on Torture (Findings and Conclusions and Executive Summary). Wrote Minnesota Peace Project Position Statement on Iran Nuclear Agreement.Lobbied Minnesota Congressional Delegation on CARES Act of 2019 and other autism-related issues.Wrote Minnesota Peace Project Position Statement on Iran Nuclear Agreement and co-authored Op-Ed in Minneapolis Star Tribune urging members of Minnesota congressional delegation to support the Agreement.Wrote articles on prohibitions against torture for ABA International Human Rights Committee Journal and MinnPost. Co-authored article with retired police chief Frank Fernandez on Minneapolis Police Department reform.
