James Sharp is a Lead Director, Government Affairs for CVS Health at CVS Health. When working with a population such as cancer survivors or caregivers that may have lost loved ones in the past, it takes a certain kind of individual to have the heart and emotional fortitude to build up the confidence and trust in the population to make them believe they can change the world. James has proven he can do that time and time again. He also cares about the longevity of the Society as a whole - even if it causes him to lose additional sleep at times. I was lucky enough to witness James's dedication very early in my time with the organization. While overseeing a completely different area of the country, James recognized the unforeseen erosion of staff in the area I was representing with a major event accelerating toward me. He recognized that the disaster could be avoided and after bringing this to the attention of leadership, James was able to fly in and help bring the event in for a smooth landing. This is the type of person, professional and leader that James naturally is. He proves that while working directly with major hospital systems, elected officials, his staff, and others he comes in contact with. He never undervalues the experiences that our survivors, caregivers, and advocates go through. He takes those experiences to the next meeting with him as he works to progress the mission to eradicate cancer. James has consistently proven he can overcome difficulties and challenges in one area, while moving mountains in others. No matter the task, James has proven that he is up for the challenge be it individually or working on a team. James is fantastic at building others up, not only his staff and volunteers but his contemporaries as well.
