Greetings! I am James Shaw, a seasoned Special Education professional who has worked as a Special Education Teacher at Rochester Prep High School for 6 years, fully certified in Adolescent Inclusive Education 9-12. I have a steadfast commitment to transforming the educational landscape for Special Education. Over the past six years, I've had the privilege of making a meaningful difference in the lives of learners with diverse needs at Rochester Prep High School, for the Uncommon School Network.My journey in Special Education has been a dynamic and enriching experience. With a firm belief in the power of education to empower and uplift not only general education students, but those who require extra attention and someone to advocate for them, I have dedicated my career to creating inclusive and supportive environments for students with unique learning requirements.I possess strong knowledge of New York State's education system and am well-versed in navigating the complexities of special education policies and procedures. My expertise extends to crafting and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) that cater to the diverse needs of each student under my care, such as individuals with 504's, and ELL plans as well. Success in Special Education requires a collaborative mindset, and I take pride in fostering strong partnerships with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders in my students success, both during and post high school. By promoting open communication and teamwork, I've consistently ensured that each student receives the tailored support they need to thrive academically and personally as much in the classroom as out. As I continue to grow in the field of Special Education, I am eager to contribute my skills, knowledge, and passion to further enhance educational experiences for students of all backgrounds and differentiated needs.
