James is a Bristol-based consultant leading a team of Operational Analysts in the Defence and Support space. The team specialises in fast paced research, modelling, and simulation to frame questions and support decision making.Leading the team regularly involves:- Engaging an array of customers, users and other stakeholders to gather and balance requirements.- Helping customers identify how to articulate the benefits and impacts of their decisions before building the evidence.- Planning, designing, and managing complex analytical projects.- Designing wargames to improve cross department engagement and conversations, as well as generating data to support and bound the discussion (including building tools to provide live decision support in response to questions on the fly).- Developing proof of concept tools and dashboards to solve problems with the available data and building roadmaps and requirements for more long term tools.- Working with and building logistics SME knowledge across domains.He has experience in logistics simulation and modelling, data analysis, and data visualisation. He is skilled with Excel, VBA, and Power BI, with experience in a variety of other simulation tools as projects have required, and has developed a wide range of tools at pace for customers.James began working as an Operational Analyst focussed in Logistics in 2017, shortly after graduating from Durham University with a 1st Class MMath Degree.
