Awarded a PG Cert in Clinical Echocardiography. Nearing completion of level 2 BSE transthoracic echocardiography accreditation. Present and discuss case-studies at our local department meetings. Perform duties to a high clinical standard with a patient-centred approach. I helped organise and run the class in a safe and effective manner and collected fitness data that supported the class's effectiveness both empirically and statistically by quantifying clients fitness improvements.

I acted as a research assistant and participant in an MSc dissertation project - Environmental chamber vs. sauna suit heat acclimation - the effects on sprint performance in hot and humid environmental conditions. As a research participant I was given a new perspective on how to conduct research in a safe and effective manner, centered around participant care. I learned about the importance of information governance, confidentiality and risk assessment, and carried this forward when conducting my own research.The opportunity to shadow a masters student early on in my university education allowed me to network with others and taught me valuable data collection and research skills. This included analysing trends in data to interpret findings and support results with peer-reviewed research journals.

My first research-based experience involved working with a PhD student as a participant and research assistant. The research project focused on analysing the effect of short-term heat acclimation on exercise performance.As a research assistant I helped set-up laboratory equipment and collected physiological data from participants. This sparked my interest in human physiology and how we respond to different environment conditions. It would later form the basis of my Master's dissertation project on how people with chronic disease/illness can experience a worsening of symptoms when exposed to environmental extremes, and how we may seek to improve this.
