EOD Technical Advisor

As the onsite Team Leader I am responsible for ensuring that all ANSF personnel that had successfully completed the EOD/IEDD course were mentored and validated by conducting further training once back in there duty station post, the end objective was for all personnel to pass validation conducted by Coalition Forces.

Summary of Job Role: As Technical Field Manager I was responsible for the design, development and Implementation of an IMAS level 2, 3 and Basic IEDD course for the AMISOM Forces Mogadishu.Responsibilities and Achievements:•Project Implementation: Provide advice and assistance to the Team Leader on training, technical issues and delivery of lessons in accordance to IMAS.•Training: Design, assistance and Implementation of an IMAS Level 2 EOD, IMAS Level 3 EOD course and Basic IEDD course for UNOPS accreditation.•Quality Management: Recording a Total Quality Management system, to ensure accountability and an auditable tracking system for all training activities undertaken by MAG in accordance with contractual objectives from UNOPS, on all courses.•Reporting: Submitting resources plans, demolition range instructions, weekly reports, Monthly Reports and IMSMA associated documentation.•Course Syllabus: The subjects designed, written, produced and delivered for both the Level 2 and Level 3 EOD course are as follows; •HMA Standards (IMAS,NTSG and SOP’s)•IMSMA (Reporting)•Landmines and Booby traps•Manual Demining / BAC Clearance•Minefield/BAC management•UXO / LSA / GW / ADW Recognition (Generic Principles)•Storage and Transportation of Explosives (IMAS)•Demolitions and use of explosives•Management of Demolition sites•Task site planning•Explosive theory•Threat assessment and planning for EOD Operations•Intro to IED

Summary of Job Role: As Senior Technical Advisor I was jointly responsible for the design, development and Implementation of an IMAS level 2,3 and 4 EOD courses held at the Humanitarian Peace Support School, Responsibilities and Achievements:•Project Implementation: Provide advice and assistance to the Country Programme Manager on training, technical issues and delivery of lessons in accordance to IMAS•Training: Design, assistance and Implementation of a FTA Level 2 EOD and IMAS Level 3 and 4 EOD course. Lead Instructor and designer of the technical element of the Sudan MASC (Mine action supervisors Course) ran in association with Cranfield University•Quality Management: Recording a Total Quality Management system, in accordance with ISO 9001:2000 QMS, on all courses.•Reporting: Submitting resources plans, demolition range instructions and other associated paperwork to the British and Kenyan military for all courses. Summary of Job Role: As Technical Field Manager I had overall responsibility for an Operations Base located in the south of Lao PDR (Khammoune Province), with approximately 130 contracted National staff. Responsibilities and achievements:•Project Management: Provided management advice and training on technical, administrative and operational procedures to MAG Lao operations •Capacity Building: Provided initial and on-going mentoring and training to EOD and Support Based Operations staff. •Training: Design and implementation of a Level 2 EOD Team Leaders and Technicians course, Medics course, driver handling course and off road motorbike course. •Operations Management: Provided advice and on-going training to the Operations Base in the areas of, operational planning, work planning, deployment of assets available both manual and mechanical to ensure most efficient and cost effective methodology •Technical EOD Advice: Provide technical advice on all aspects of EOD, including BAC UXO clearance methodology, deployment of Manual Bush Cutting teams for maximum productivity outputs •Community Liaison: Assisting and controlling teams used for the collection BAC Survey Data, gathering of pre clearance and post clearance data, Village survey reports, General area survey reports and beneficiary data for use in National and Donor reports. •Quality Management: Implement and record a Total Quality Management system, to ensure accountability and an auditable tracking system for all BAC activities undertaken. •Reporting: Programme reporting including Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Donor Reports, monthly finance cashbooks and budget forecasts. •Representation and Liaison: Represent the Project to official delegations in Lao PDR and other delegations. •Partner Agencies / Donors: International Relief and Development, Triangle, World Food Programme, World Vision, Humpty Dumpty Institute, US State Department, USDA
