People tend to look at me funny when I tell them that my dream job doesn’t involve a lot of socializing, staring at accounts and sheets all day in a cubicle. Hello, my name is James, and I am currently an undergraduate student at University of Texas Dallas, perusing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, hoping to become a CPA after graduating. I would like to go into public accounting to get the hands on experience that I feel like I might need in the future. I try to put 100% of myself into all that I commit to, whether that be work, school or even hobbies. I also tend to get a little fixated on a situation or problem until I fully understand it. On top of going to University I am also an assistant manager at a Café and bar here in Dallas, I have been here for about 4 years while I am finishing up my degree. Here I have learned a lot about communicating with my co-workers and helping customers get the best experience that they can. I have also become very adaptable for the various problems and situations that can occur during a shift. Finding solutions to problems is something that I enjoy and strive to do, which could be one of the biggest reasons why I enjoy accounting. Accounting has been something that I have found very interesting since I first had taken a course in it. Much like a puzzle of finding where things belong and have come from along with keeping track of things. Some more skills that I use on a daily basis are money management along with organizations skills.
