Project Lead\Senior Software EngineerDoctor Design, Inc. Aug 1997 - Jul 1998Designed and programmed DSS Satellite bit stream software tools for DirecTV to be used for automated testing purposes. I was a technical design lead and designed/programmed tools using Visual C++ and MFC. The resulting satellite bit streams were stored on CD-ROM and sold to manufacturers of Integrated Receiver/Decoder’s to verify the correct operation of their devices. Communications protocols were embedded in these bit streams with various levels of encapsulation such as IP/UDP headers, Multipacket Transport Protocol, BARP, HTML, etc. I also did some design on a new object oriented Advanced Program Guide tool and worked on an application to capture or generate DSS Satellite bit streams using a newly written Windows NT driver.

The Voice Switch was a non-blocking digital switch based on Time Division Multiplex (TDM) technology. The portion I worked on mostly was the Air Traffic Controller console, which consisted of a Pentium CPU, ISDN link, Audio Processing Module, and pSOS Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) from Integrated Systems. In addition, I also worked on the Interface Message Handler, which ran on an NT Server platform. It used Windows network socket connections to the Voice Switch.
