Spacecraft Systems Engineer (Jwst)Space Telescope Science Institute Aug 2015 - Jul 2020Baltimore, MdAs a Spacecraft Engineer for STScI, I developed, simulator/hardware-tested, and reviewed numerous flight scripts, Standard Operating Procedures, and Telemetry Display Pages for the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) Communications (COMM) subsystem according to vendor specification. I was also often tasked with reviewing engineering documents and maintaining the status of and submit Flight Ops products to the Project Reference Database. As a member of the COMM Mission Operations Team (MOT), I developed, tested, & rehearsed JWST Loss of COMM Philosophy & Procedures, and assisted in the shaping of the Flight Ops Concept of Operations (ConOps) for the JWST COMM Subsystem. I was instrumental in the development of the JWST Observatory Visualization Tool (OVT), which involves the collaboration of Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, and NASA design teams to produce a tool that would have totaled north of a million dollars, for a fraction of the cost. I not only discovered the software used for the tool and demonstrated its potential to leadership, but also participated in Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs), Agile Sprint Tag-Ups, and requirements verification for the OVT during development and Flight Qualification Testing. In an effort to provide the team a troubleshooting avenue, I researched, discovered, and assisted in the subcontracting of a vendor (GravityLab) specializing in the software (Cesium) used for OVT. Additionally, I served as Test Author, Test Coordinator, and Test Director for multiple successful cross-participation exercises with NASA Ground Systems & Operations, NASA Flight Dynamics Facility, Northrop Grumman Space Systems, STScI, NASA's Space Network, JPL's Deep Space Network, & European Space Agency players. I also frequently participated in many Internal and External Dry-Runs, Rehearsals, and Day-In-The-Life (DITL) Exercises, as well as conducted Test Readiness Reviews (TRR), In-Briefs, and Out-Briefs/Hotwashes. -
Flight Operations (Jwst)Space Telescope Science Institute Jun 2014 - Aug 2015Baltimore, MdAs the STScI Flight Operations Team's (FOT) very first engineering intern, I was able to apply my university lessons in a very tangible way, as I was responsible for creating script procedure drafts for the FOT and maintaining the database of delivered Flight Operations products. I also participated in exercises and attended Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs) & Mission Operations Working Groups (MOWGs). Upon graduation, my experience and efforts as an intern were then rewarded with a full-time position at STScI, as a Spacecraft Systems Engineer. -
Sounding Rocket / High-Altitude Balloon PayloadsCapitol Technology University Jan 2014 - Jun 2014Laurel, MdAs Student Lead for Capitol's High-Altitude Balloon Payload Program, I was charged with prototyping working parachutes, polling the student body for potential payloads, procuring a helium supplier contract, and also served as the Inter-Program Liaison between Capitol Technology University and UM College Park's Near Space Program. Our partnership with UM College Park allowed for valuable knowledge, skill, and resource exchange, resulting in successful missions for both universities. -
Cryptologic Language AnalystUnited States Air Force Dec 2000 - Sep 2011While serving in the United States Air Force (USAF) as a Cryptologic Language Analyst (CLA), I contributed to the Intelligence Community by translating & analyzing communications, which provided vital intelligence to key decision-makers. As CLA Training Manager, I managed ongoing training plans for unit personnel, wrote technical training curriculum, instructed a regular cadence of technical classes, briefed unit leadership, and acted as mentor to new airmen.
