Researching sensory processing and its applications to human behavior. Current research focus on the processing capacity of the human visual system, olfaction, and how those sensory modalities effect human social behaviors. Further applications include understanding autism in the case of sensory thresholds (hyper-reactivity or hypo-reactivity), the effect of external stimuli (caffeine, sleep depravity, exercise, stress, etc.) on sensory processing, the ability to reliably navigate and discriminate the surrounding environment, and the social behaviors that result from individual sensory processing differences such as anxiety or avoidance behaviors.

Assisting students with major/minor needs, regularly advising them in taking and registering for courses, changing majors, fleshing out their graduation plan, and helping students make connections within the department to seek new opportunities. Interviewed and trained new advisors as a senior peer advisor. The position requires developed interpersonal skills in which the peer advisor has the ability to establish a rapport with the student, along with an optimistic attitude, and a passion for helping others and higher education.

Relationships Across Development Lab: SOAR Program-The program aims to promote social-emotional adjustment and resilience skills in at-risk children in the Oswego City School District. The program was developed using the evidence-based protocol SS-GRIN, which has shown positive results for at-risk students in schools nationwide. As an intern, I worked to explicitly teach important fundamental 'building blocks' to positive socio-emotional behaviors such as interpersonal respect, understanding and managing emotions, recognizing others' emotions, nonverbal communication, and acknowledging personal space. The program functions as a prevention for social-emotional difficulties in UPK programs.

Learned and practiced scheduling software, advised students in their search for colleges and careers. Visited senior classes as a guest speaker to discuss undergraduate experiences, partook in and observed day and night school operations, and co-supervised the Gay-Straight Alliance club. 120 hours.

Shadowed everyday counseling office activity. Observed day and night school counseling operations and assisted students in their college and job searches. Collected data on LGBTQ+ student experiences by administering and analyzing a school climate survey adopted from GLSEN. The results of which were used to evoke evidence based changes within the school by club supervisors and administration. 80 hours.
