Worked with UnifyID to build an OAuth2 server from the ground up that integrates with their unique, "implicit auth" service (more on that here: https://blog.unify.id/2016/09/12/unifyid-technical-overview)

I joined Tilt to work on API and backend business logic. Being a startup, things move fast, you do a lot of experimentation, and you have to be comfortable navigating ambiguity. You also wear a lot of hats. I primarily worked in Perl, using the Dancer framework to build REST architecture backed by PostgreSQL.As part of the Payments team, I was responsible for integrations against multiple providers such as WePay, Stripe, and Adyen. I assisted our support team in tracking down payments issues, and worked on fraud protection solutions with providers SiftScience, Smyte, and our own internal fraud detection logic. I've played a key role in the development of new features like Request Money and Wallet. Additional responsibilities include internal tools development in Ruby/Rails, migrating to a new service architecture in Go, and on-call duties for infrastructure -- so plenty of Linux and sifting logs to suss out reasons for outages. I also worked to port our old Sque infrastructure to Amazon SQS, and implemented site-wide load testing plans with Vegeta to stress API nodes, databases, and queues.Like I said, a lot of hats.

PKWARE acquired my security startup, CompletelyPrivateFiles, LLC, and I became a part of their cloud security team. We worked to release an encrypted file sync tool for Dropbox named Viivo that was formed from SecretSync, the flagship product of CompletelyPrivateFiles. I developed on multiple platforms, including Windows, OSX, and Linux, in multiple languages, but primarily C++ and Python, with some Objective-C. Responsible for sync algorithms, system interfaces, encryption features, build tools, and many things in-between.

Soon after my initial excitement about the cloud, I became uncomfortable putting my personal and proprietary information in it. So I began looking at ways to enable user-controlled encryption for the cloud, and CompletelyPrivateFiles, LLC was born. I began by integrating third-party, AES-256 encryption with Box.com via their web APIs. I then developed some novel IP for the general securing of web-based services using a browser, and implemented an API using Perl/MySQL/REST that developers could integrate into their own services.Dropbox began to gain momentum around this period, and I developed SecretSync, a Java-based sync application that encrypted your files before Dropbox had access to them. This came to the attention of Lifehacker, Steve Gibson of TWiT.tv, among others, and eventually led to my company's acquisition by PKWARE.

I always wore two hats here, systems administration and software development. System administration: Windows platform servers. Managed Microsoft Exchange, web servers (IIS/SharePoint), SQL DBA, Active Directory. Also assisted in network infrastructure, content-filtering, and firewall administration.Software development: Developed and customized SharePoint templates and web parts to maintain intranet and internet web presence. Developed web reporting and data gathering tools in ASP/ASP.NET/C#/Perl that used SQL backend. Responsible for managing SQL and designing the data schema for given applications.

Started here as an Operator while still in college. Worked the night shift running batch jobs on VAX/VMS, Unix variants, and Windows servers. Transitioned to Technology Analyst and managed the Intranet and Exchange servers for a 5,000 employee company.
