Vice President Of Pledge Education
CurrentAs Vice President of Pledge Education, I am eager to see where this role takes me. I am working directly with another brother which so happens to be my little, Drew Hayashi. We are tasked with educating a new pledge class into our Fraternity that will be initiated in the Fall of 2024. As educators, we will conduct weekly meetings over the span of 5 weeks during the pledge process. We act as the stepping stones for new pledges to become familiar with the Fraternity. This can be though promoting an inclusive environment for engagement or being a resource for information. Overall, I am more than excited to hold this role because I believe that this position directly mirrors me being a resident assistant.
Conduct Chair
As Conduct Chair, I was responsible of upholding risk management values within the parameters of Delta Sigma Pi and Colorado State University. This can be in the form of assigning risk officers for our tailgates and formal. Additionally, I am tasked with educating my peers on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts. This can be through DEI breakout discussions during our weekly meetings or reaching out to DEI specialists within larger corporations to provide insight of how DEI is affecting the business world.
Social Chair
As Social Chair, I was responsible for playing our formal gathering at Estes Park, Colorado. This social event is hosted every semester for our Fraternity. The event lasted over the span of a weekend with reserving 13 cabins at Solitude Cabins for our 80 members attending. Also, I was tasked with creating a senior gift for our only graduating senior in the Fall. Lastly, I hosted an end of the year field day for our brothers on our Intermural Fields at Colorado State University. This event consisted of friendly but competitive games such as Capture the Flag, Kickball, Volleyball, and Spikeball.
Fraternity And Sorority Life Ambassador
CurrentAs a Fraternity and Sorority Life Ambassador, I am responsible for educating individuals about Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) at Colorado State University. I was appointed this role through being a council officer for the Professional Fraternity Council. I have indulged in educational sessions and now I am well versed on educating my peers of FSL 's resources.
Co-Council Development
CurrentAs Co-Council Development, I am responsible for upholding Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) rules and regulations when it comes to Community Service and Philanthropy (CSP) events. The Professional Fraternity Council (PFC) is 1 out of the 5 governing councils at Colorado State University. PFC is an interest based council that oversees Delta Sigma Pi, Sigma Alpha Iota, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and Sigma Alpha. The role of our council is to be a liaison for our chapters and FSL. I am tasked with reviewing event submissions from our chapters and either pass/deny them depending if it goes against the Joint Policy of Philanthropy and Fundraising. Also, this role coordinates participation in our all-council event of CSUnity, which is an event hosted by Student Leadership, Involvement and Community Engagement (SLICE). This event is an all-day community service event that volunteers give back to the community of Fort Collins, Colorado. My group worked at Crossroad Safehouse which is a domestic violence shelter, we helped by assisting in yard work and creating care packages for their residents. Overall, in the Spring of 2024, FSL had 40 chapters across 5 governing councils participate in CSUnity, with all chapters in my council participating as well. This role has a lot of freedom of what I want I can do, so next semester I am looking forward to working with the Crossword Safehouse again by creating a chapter wide fundraising event for their Wishlist items.
Resident Assistant
CurrentAs a Resident Assistant, I am responsible for creating a sense of community within my hall while enforcing University Housing policies. I was selected as 1 of the 12 resident assistants in Newsom Hall at Colorado State University (CSU), which is a community styled dorm with a shared common area bathroom. While balancing this role with academia, I was able to build a personal connection with every single individual out of my 34 residents. The community style dorm may be an inconvenience to the living portion of the role but it is a great opportunity to build personal connections with my residents. Without this aspect, I would not be able to say it was worth every second of the experience. Overall, my first year as an resident assistant has been a blast and I am excited to announce that I am returning for my second year at Newsom Hall! For my first year, my team was able to accomplish the feat of #1 in Student Engagement across 15 residential halls at CSU. We were able to do this by hosting 83 programs throughout the year with nearly 1,500 residents engaged. Also, I was able to present purchasing material bills to student organizations like Residential Leadership Programs (RLP) and Community Council (CC) to receive funding for our all-hall events. In doing so, I was able to pass bills containing +$500 worth of goods like a Nintendo Switch or a JBL PartyBox for our community. The relationships I have built within this role with be everlasting and I believe that I became a better individual through being a resident assistant. I am excited to see where year two takes me!
