CAT… Show more Leading communications for the Contraceptive Access Team (CAT) on the Zika Pregnancy and Birth Defects Task Force at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Managing development, review, and clearance of communication products for a social marketing campaign to promote the Zika Contraception Action Network in Puerto Rico. The project, in partnership with the CDC Foundation, provided long-term, reversible contraceptives to more than 23,000 women in a period of 11 months. CAT communication projects are also helping local health departments in the US Virgin Islands and Pacific Island Territories create toolkits to raise awareness of contraception in the context of local Zika outbreaks. In addition to this work, I led communication efforts for the the Division of Global Migration and Quarantine's contribution to the Zika outbreak, serving on the Global Migration Task Force. I produced three videos to inform US travelers about Zika prevention strategies while attending the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Rewriting technical content from OCIO websites for a site redesign project. Collaborating with leaders and subject matter experts (SMEs) to reduce Web content inventory from 6700+ URLs to 1200 URLs, an 80% reduction. Using a cost-effective survey to ask customers about existing content; acquired 372 completed surveys for a ≥ 30% response rate. Created a new Web site and consulted on business processes for the National Diabetes Prevention Program. The site launched in Fall of 2011 and was a ground-breaking partnership between the CDC, the YMCA, and private heath insurance providers. Wrote, edited, and coordinated online communication for a $6.75 million funding opportunity announcement. Wrote and edited technical documents for program providers. Tracked and reported program uptake by monitoring intake data for over 100 local programs.

Wrote content telling the story of the Prevention Research Centers (PRC) Program, the largest extramural research program at the CDC. Researched, wrote, and edited research descriptions for an online, searchable database. Collaborated with academic researchers at nine unviversities to define the key publications, policies, and programs of the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Network (CPCRN). Worked with a senior pubic health educator at the CDC to engage decision makers and promote the CPCRN to increase investment and disseminate effective products.
