I guide and support organisations looking to make their operations and buildings more energy effective and sustainable. My eye-opener came about when I was the Energy Manager for Heathrow Airport... We had a big challenge – we had to cut a huge 100GWhs a year off the airport’s energy consumption. We didn’t initially have any capital funding but we had the opportunity to try out lots of people based solutions and ideas. • And we massively surprised ourselves - we hit the target in about half the time we thought possible and hadn’t even really started spending much Capex! • It wasn’t perfect, we learnt a lot. The best areas cut consumption by 30% in a little more than 3 years.This experience led me to set up the Discovery Mill - to guide and support organisations looking to battle against high energy costs and hit ever more stretching sustainability targets - by working closely with operations and development teams to cut consumption, carbon and costs.What are the challenges you're facing?• “Your buildings and operations need to be much more energy effective and sustainable”?• “People and management-system solutions need to balance and enhance your technical strategies”?• “Working more closely with your business & service partners on energy sustainability issues”?I understand the challenges, with over 25+ years’ experience: Chartered Energy Manager – Chartered Engineer – Approved EnCO (Behaviour Change) Practitioner – Lead ESOS Assessor - ISO 50001/14001 Facilitator -– Lead trainer for the Energy Institute – Consultant Editor for Croneri – and regular contributor for industry groups, journals and judge for international awards.Previously I was taught to focus on big projects and tech solutions.
