Mr. James Eck is an independent consultant and coach, specializing in educational leadership and a high-reliability systems approach to educational improvement and innovation.For the past ten years Mr. Eck was a managing consultant and senior director at McREL International, where he led McREL’s development work aimed at creating and supporting high-performing/high-reliability educational systems. High Reliability Organizations (HROs) in other industries strive diligently to prevent and respond to failures that have catastrophic results. High-reliability educational systems approach student failure from the same systemic perspective. Mr. Eck has utilized his degrees in science (a BS in Biology) and in education (Ed Leadership and Research/Evaluation) to provide a scientific, research-based approach to educational improvement and leadership development. He has been a pioneer in adapting short-cycle processes for improvement and innovation from other industries, like healthcare, to education.Mr. Eck is also proud to have also been an interim superintendent, assistant superintendent, middle school principal and assistant principal, and teacher with a total of more than 35 years of experience serving the field of public education.
