Manager of Information Systems for New Plymouth Council in the Taranaki region of New Zealand. I was in charge of IS strategy, and helping the organisation deliver benefits to the community through the use of Information Technology.Whilst working at the council we restructured the Information Systems department, and implemented ITIL best practices in several key IS processes. I worked with the IS Deparment to improve customer focus, and raised awareness of IS within the business by attendance at Executive Management Team meetings on a fortnightly basis.Whilst at the council the IS team were central in the implemention of new core systems, including local government regulatory systems, a new core financials system, document management and GIS. These will form the foundations of all future council IS developments and the infrastructure we designed was based around a Service Oriented Architecture.

Overall responsibility for ensuring that IT met the current and future requirements of the business.I developed Management Information Systems which provide live information which shows performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for individuals, teams and the Firm as a whole. Other major projects include a firm wide rollout of Digital Dictation, Case Management, a CRM workflow system for managing client information and migration of the network infrastructure to Windows XP clients with Windows 2003 Server. Systems Integration projects we implemented dramatically improved efficiency of several departments by automatically feeding data between internal systems, external fund accounts held, and also with external Investment Brokers. I was responsible for all appraisals, recruitment and training within the IT function.

IT Manager for a solicitors firm in the centre of Edinburgh. My role was to implement a technological platform to improve the operating efficiency of the Firm. The culture of the firm was changed from having no PC’s on Solicitors desks to everyone having a PC, and access to a wide range of Management Information. Time recording efficiency of the Firm as a whole was improved by over 25% in my first year.Robson McLean won contracts that would have been impossible before modernisation by implementing case management software to allow companies to be able to monitor progress across a large number of cases. I improved and automated existing business processes. For our main client, the time to process the quarterly bills was reduced from 4 weeks to 3 days.I was contracted out to our software supplier for a three month period to give them consultancy on Crystal Reports, SQL Server and Management Information.

IT Manager in charge of a mixed UNIX / Apple / Windows NT network, which I was instrumental in designing. I was also in charge of software development and developed a shop floor time recording system, a bar code tracking production system and a stock control system to control the issuing of Microsoft certificate of authenticity’s to customers.

IT Manager in charge of a 100 User network in a manufacturing company with around 450 employees at the site where I was employed. I was in charge of all software development, installation and training, and also developed BS5750 Quality Assurance procedures for PC Repair, Network Backup, Software Installation, Security and Helpdesk. One of my major projects was the rollout of an in-house Enterprise Resource Planning package.

Worked as a programmer and graphic designer for a small company developing titles for Compact Disc Interactive (CDI). I was involved in all project stages, from demonstration of the product, through to specification, design and production. I produced a demonstration Compact Disc for Sony's Data Discman, which was used at the National Media Exhibition in 1992.
