I've been described as “one of Canada’s most accomplished climate and clean-energy solutions communicators.” I'm an author and award-winning writer, editor, and strategist with a deep understanding of the leading solutions to the climate crisis and 15 years spent building awareness and support for emissions-reductions policies, technologies, and strategies. After a media career that included senior editorial leadership positions with Outside magazine and Wired.com in the United States, I returned to my home country in 2010 and co-founded Clean Energy Canada. As the think tank’s first communications director, I wrote numerous reports, produced videos, and placed opinion editorials that inspired and informed policy leadership and helped elevate the story of Canada’s energy-transition opportunity to the nation’s front pages. In 2015 I founded a consultancy to support a wide array of companies, organizations, and governments. I soon focused my practice on urban climate solutions, growing awareness of, and support for, high-performance building standards, electrification, and active mobility. I collaborated with other independent creative professionals to create a branded identity and outreach strategy for the BC Energy Step Code—North America’s first regulated pathway to net-zero energy-ready buildings. We created award-winning brand strategies and implemented them via case studies, motion graphics, microsites, campaigns, and presentations.I launched Bright Future Studio, a boutique strategy and branding shop, in October 2022. We create and revitalize brands, identities, productions, campaigns, and resources that help reduce emissions, transform markets, and strengthen communities. Our client list includes the Building Decarbonization Alliance, Canadian Climate Institute, Canada Green Building Council, City of Vancouver, City of Victoria, City of Surrey, Capital Regional District, Energy Step Code Council, BC Hydro, BC Housing, the Province of British Columbia, Efficiency Canada, the Province of Nova Scotia, the Zero Emissions Innovation Centre (ZEIC), among others. We live and work in Vancouver, B.C. on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish Nation), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation).
