Leading collaboratively and taking responsibility for the delivery, quality and impact of careers services for students, graduates, colleges, employers and community organisations.

Working in partnership with School's within the College of Health, Psychology and Social Care to lead the college careers team, co-ordinating a variety of employability activities designed to improve the employability and graduate destinations of students.

• Event Management: Planned, project managed and delivered a week long Psychology Careers Festival which engaged 1,500 individuals with planning their career in psychology. Co-chaired over 20 virtual events which welcomed over 50 diverse and engaging speakers.• External Engagement: Worked with external recruiters, professional bodies and national health services toengage them within the work of the BPS and careers more specifically.• Supporting Higher Education: Organised two successful engagement events which gained feedback on and allowed participants to share knowledge around embedding employability across the psychology curriculum.• Student Engagement: Engaged student audiences across the four nations of the UK to developed their employability whilst at the same time promoting the work of the BPS and membership benefits.• Strategic Development: Working with Member Networks mapped careers activity across the BPS negotiatingwith these groups to include their activity into an overarching careers strategy for the Society.• Internal Networks: Sat on the Education and Training Board.

● Teaching and learning: Supported the delivery of two modules which formed the concluding parts of the Warwick Online Learning Certificate (WOLC). Successfully arguing for their inclusion of employability in this programme and then devising learning activities which encouraged career exploration and engagement with opportunities. These two modules were agreed and passed through teaching committees for inclusion in the certificate.● Leadership in embedding employability: Developed a comprehensive employability plan which presentedstatistics (DLHE, enrolment and attendance data) with a narrative which was adopted for use by Senior Careers Consultants to assess the extent of embedded employability and promote further embedding in line with the University’s strategy.● Leadership of central careers provision: Led and managed a team of seven employability professionals todeliver a programme of one to one support and group workshops to students and graduates. Increase numbers engaging with this service by 24% and reduce the number of students turned away by 34% across the 2018/19 academic year.● Embedding Employability: Working closely with departments and Senior Careers Consultants developed anembedded seminar which could be used to engage first year students with career management and thepersonal tutor system.● Bid writing: Successfully wrote a bid and was awarded £31,000 from the University’s Innovation Fund to fund a mentoring programme which was rolled out in summer 2021.● Acted up as Head of Careers between November 2018 ans February 2019.

● Leadership: Led a team of seven staff members to organise employer engagement activities across theUniversity for one academic year. Through chargeable events was able to generate £228,500 income for theacademic year.● Financial management: Responsible for careful management of a budget of £85,000 per year. Adhering tofinancial regulations and also negotiating with delivery partners to make a cost saving of £15,000 on theprevious year.● Departmental Employer Engagement: Working closely with key academic departments including Warwick Law School, Warwick Manufacturing Group and Warwick Business School (WBS) to offer a programme of events at department level which engage students and recruiters whilst at the same time complementing central provision.

As Senior Careers Consultant I provided coverage to the Department of Sociology, the Centre for Life-Long Learning, the Centre for Education Studies and the Centre for Professional Education, I also provide support to the central service offering a range of central guidance appointments open to all disciplines. • Delivered central sessions covering 'Routes into Teaching' and 'How to Write an Effective Personal Statement'.• Using different pedagogical approaches to learning, developing sessions based around flipped learning and SCALE-UP (Student-Centred Active Learning Environment with Upside-down Pedagogies).• Engaging with new technologies to support student learning such as webinars, PowerPoint and Prezi using proficient ICT knowledge to enhance student learning. Contributing to the running of several webinars focusing on the engagement of international students in the ASEAN and Middle East regions.• Arranged and hosted the first 'Make Your Mark' Sociology careers event in October 2015 which included a range of speakers and alumni. Currently planning a Sociology Alumni careers evening to be held in January 2016.• Ran a series of seminars for Professional Education students (Primary and Secondary) covering application techniques and how to apply for your first teaching post.• Delivery on Research Placement module within the Centre for Lifelong Learning providing sessions covering selling yourself online, on paper and face to face.• Using social mediums such as Facebook and Twitter to promote events and opportunities.• Attending Student Staff Liaison Committee (SSLC) meetings to gain important feedback from students and use this to inform delivery.• Used feedback from Education SSLC meetings to conceive and set up the running of an alternatives to teaching event which will be due to run in March 2016.

As Careers Consultant I provided coverage to the School of Science and Technology and provided coverage of general enquiries made through the campus Employability Centre which primarily serves the Schools of Arts and Humanities and Education. • Delivering core career management sessions as part of professional practice modules within Sports Science, Chemistry, Computing, Biosciences and Forensic Science to increase students’ placement and graduate employment applications. • Delivering central provision of career based sessions such as Routes Into Teaching and The Legal Profession (for non-law students) to engage a wide variety of students.• Design and delivery of course specific sessions as a result of analysis and interpretation of DLHE data. In 2012 delivered a series of sessions for BSc and MSci Physics students which contributed to an overall uplift in positive destination data for this cohort.• Nominated and shortlisted by students for the 2014 Nottingham Trent Student Union Outstanding Teaching awards recognising my dedication to delivering person-centred advice and guidance.• Continually striving to improve engagement levels, in 2013/14 the number of students I provided for on a one to one basis increased to 1080 compared to 782 in the previous year.• Promotion of Employability Programmes, such as the Nottingham Trent University Acceler8 Award, to engage students with work experience through inductions. In 2013 achieved the highest sign up (proportionally) to the Award when compared to other academic schools.• In September 2014 developed a learning room for Science and Technology Students within the University’s Virtual Learning Environment (NOW) through links to websites resources and also produced videos and tutorials to help with practical aspects of the career planning process.• Worked on a project to implement an employability award for postgraduate students in 2013/14 which saw placement numbers double within the School.

• Understanding of the graduate labour market: I have gained substantial experience of collecting and presenting labour market information to students. Working to tight timescales I produced a quality handout on applying to GTTR contacting admissions tutors at several institutions to discuss what they are looking for from applicants• One to one and group careers advice and guidance: I regularly provide support to students from a broad range of courses using the theoretical knowledge gained from the PGDip. Recent successes include helping students gain paid summer work after delivering presentations to several courses followed-up by application review sessions. This resulted in a positive uplift in undergraduates gaining work experience, a key objective of the university.• Employer Liaison: A key aspect of this role is sourcing relevant graduate job vacancies and presenting these to students and supporting their applications. To support this work I have proactively contacted local employers, gaining an understanding of their needs and expectations for graduates. I have taken part in a recruitment drive for Recruitment Consultants to support applicants from Coventry University whom are trying to enter that sector.• Working with Academic Staff: I recognise the importance of embedding employability within the University curriculum and have networked and negotiated with lecturers from targeted disciplines to have sessions during timetabled lectures to promote the unit’s aims and objectives.

• Designing Careers Curriculum: I planned, devised and delivered a series of small group workshops to pupils who were not attending university guiding them through the process of career decision making, application and interview, resulting in several pupils being successfully accepted onto apprenticeships.• Generating innovative engagement proposals: I have ran sessions on the use of new media in job searching and provided coaching and development support on the uses and production of video CVs. These sessions ensured that learning took place in an engaging environment.

• One to one coaching: I provided structured coaching ensuring feedback was delivered in a friendly and constructive manner and all results were followed up. In line with FSA regulation all coaching was documented correctly and I achieved a rating of 100% consistency from cross departmental auditors.• Motivational Leadership: I inspired and took leadership of a team of ten representatives and through team work, effective communication of MI and performance management was able to increase performance against plan in June 2011 by 41%.

• Personal Development: I stepped up and sales floor managed several branches, coaching and motivating the team to achieve the branches weekly plan in two days and was awarded the Central London performer of the week.• Networking: I worked in partnership with external organisations such as the Prince’s Trust and Swansea Metropolitan University to deliver small group sessions highlighting the challenges and rewards of self employment.• Planning and Organising: In June 2010 I planned and organised a nationally recognised Talking Business event, for the local business community forging and growing mutually beneficial relationships.
