Trade TeamThe main project I worked on was a site to change to a RDC for the north of the UK. I analysed the quantities of products picked at the previous RDC and based the warehouse layout on those volumes, whilst also accounting for regional differences. In addition to this, I was tasked with sourcing new signage for the warehouse, ensuring the information provided to the supplier was accurate and securing the best quote.Appointed the returns/ullage manager to recover from a backlog, as well as putting in place solutions to make sure that the department didn’t fall behind in future. There were a number of fixes such as a 5s system and ensuring information was passed on promptly. I also secured daily support from other departments during their quiet period to assist with the work load.DHL Specialist ServicesBrought into specialist services to work on the project team to deliver a new workshop from initial build to fully operational. I visited existing workshops to experience the best practices in each, ensuring that these could be adopted from day one in the new workshop. I also worked closely with the design team and architect to ensure that we were getting the most operational value out of the warehouse.I was also involved with was the tendering process for a series of contracts. This involved analysing the requirements and ensuring that DHL would not over promise and under deliver. I met with the third party partners to ensure that they had a clear understanding of their responsibility and so I could become a key contact for them should they have any further queries.EnvirosolutionsA VP recommended me for a secondment to be involved with a re-tendering process as a cost saving initiative and to enable further business opportunities to be explored with selected suppliers. In addition I also undertook a contract review initiative; existing contracts were reviewed and updated were required and new contracts drawn up in conjunction with the legal team.
