As part of the acquisition of AppToPay I was appointed Product Director of V12 Retail Finance tasked with developing the future product development strategy for the business. I was also appointed to the Executive Committee to advise on the overall strategic decisions of the business.During my time there, V12RF achieved the milestone of £1B in annual lending despite challenging economic times.

I created AppToPay having seen the benefits and limitations of traditional retail finance in my families retail business.Myself and Dom set out to create a finance product that was genuinely useful to consumers, one that would allow them to maintain control of their finances whilst also giving them the flexibility to spread the cost of a range of purchases all managed through a simple app interface.AppToPay, as it was pre-acquisition, offered UK consumers an interest free line of credit of up to £2,000 that they could spend at our network of retailers.Once approved for their line of credit, each purchase took a matter of seconds from instigation to confirmation and gave the consumer the ability to spread the repayment period of each individual purchase between 2 and 12 months, as repayments were received their credit would become available to them again to fund further purchases.AppToPay was regulated by the FCA in 2019 and offered Section 75 'protection' on purchases.Repayments were always structured in order to prevent debt perpetuation, a phrase we used regularly was "spend it like a credit card, repay it like a loan" as we set out to give consumers the spend ease of a credit card combined with the structured repayments of a loan.AppToPay had many industry leading innovations such as dynamic direct debit collection to collect all outstanding repayments in a single monthly direct debit that would revert back to £zero if no repayments were due, we allowed our users to set a maximum monthly repayment limit so that they could keep themselves within a comfortable repayment amount (within the limit we set) as well as allowing them to limit the number of concurrent purchases so if they wanted they had to pay off historic purchases before they could instigate new purchases.AppToPay gained lots of attention within the finance industry and we were ultimately purchased by V12 Retail Finance / Secure Trust Bank who own and operate the app today.

Having researched the UK domestic solar panel installation industry I set about creating a service to help UK based consumers that had been mis-sold solar panels get compensation.Operating as a “solopreneur” lead generator under the regulation of the Ministry of Justice as a Claims Management Company and in partnership with 2 highly reputable solicitors firms, Mis-Sold-Solar generated an estimated £10m in compensation for its consumers affected by solar panel mis-selling.

Established in 1986, with my family taking over in 2009, Robinsons of Bawtry has been and continues to be a fashion destination within south Yorkshire.Whilst under our ownership Robinsons was an official stockist of designer brands including Balmain, Mulberry, Hugo Boss, Armani, Ralph Lauren, Jacob Cohen, Michael Kors, Versace, Moschino, Jeffery West and many more.During my time at Robinsons I was instrumental in marketing as well as business analysis & development, this included activities such as developing our online presence and strategy, sourcing new brands and introducing new payment options - this culminated in taking customer feedback to create our own payment service, AppToPay.In addition to my involvement at Robinsons I also developed the original VisitBawtry concept and was involved in the creation of many VisitBawtry branded events such as VisitBawtry Raceday, PoloCup, fundraisers and the VisitBawtry magazine which at its peak had a distribution of around 45k copies on a bi-monthly basis.Being hands on in so many areas of the business provided me with invaluable experience and a greater understanding of my own strengths and weaknesses.

The Bright White Company provided Cosmetic Teeth Whitening using the best laboratory produced products at affordable prices through a network of over 50 beauty salons throughout the UK.The business was sold in late 2008.
