Collaborate with architects, general contractors, shade dealers, and our internal sales team to develop and promote automated shade systems to increase energy efficiency, occupant comfort and productivity. By working as far upstream in the design process as possible, the shade system can be well-integrated into the building design and be easy to install, which saves on overall project cost in addition to the long term energy savings.I am an integral part of a custom application team formed to design and manufacture custom shade products for large commercial projects and residential applications. These shade solutions can be completely custom large-format skylight shades for a university atrium, forty-foot tall cable-guided roller shades for flagship stores for a well-known computer and smartphone company, designing a completely new roller shade and pocket system for a large oil company's brand new campus, and designing a suite of custom shade systems for a well-known social media company's new headquarters or a brand new casino project in Macao.In addition to the shade system design work, my total project support includes meetings with the architect to understand the architect's vision, site visits during construction to meet with the general contractor and sub contractors, and additional site visits to train the installers and assist with the commissioning of the shade system.

Responsible for new product development in Lutron's Window Systems division. We sell motorized window treatments for commercial and residential clients. While in this position, I led the development of several new window systems products which were awarded design patents. I helped to come up with an innovative new way to access the batteries for a battery-powered shade and a novel way to eliminate hazardous lift cords from Roman shades.Provided technical assistance to other new product development projects for improving acoustic noise, development of new concepts, problem solving, and brainstorming.Assisted with application of Six-Sigma techniques to converge on product development solutions and optimize current-product processes. Using these methods, I was able to identify the root cause of a hembar levelness problem with a new Venetian lift system and develop a screening test to identify compatible sets of parts.Experienced with injection-molded plastic part designs, sheet metal fabrication, and rapid prototyping processes.
