Provide managerial leadership for a wide variety of SCO projects and operations, participate in or lead statewide mapping/GIS projects, answer public inquiries on mapping-related topics. Coordinate SCO print and electronic publications, and serve as Editor for the Wisconsin Mapping Bulletin. The best part of my job is working with geospatial pros around the state, getting to know them, and then do my part to help them reach solutions in any way possible.

I was one of 12 directors who help oversee the management of Wisconsin's premiere association of geospatial professionals.

I was the chief "money guy" for the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) Western Great Lakes Region. During my time as the volunteer Treasurer, I've worked hard to implement a variety of best practices to simply the management of our finances. In addition, I was also the Region Webmaster, and official photographer at events!

Responsible for DNR’s enterprise-level implementation of interactive web mapping technology. Design server and software system architectures to support business needs. Design and implement best practices for web mapping application development. Develop and maintain a quality control and review system to ensure all applications meet DNR standards.

Responsible for the daily operations of a GIS and remote sensing research laboratory with 45 employees. Directly responsible for all IT-related activities, including the supervision of three to five PC/Unix administrators. Served as a technical consultant on GIS/RS research projects, managed all CALMIT web application development efforts, developed and implemented data archive procedures, and managed research assistants on special GIS/RS projects. Served as one of the primary points of contact for both ESRI and ERDAS technical support for the four University of Nebraska campuses. Actively participated in statewide GIS coordination activities, such as serving on the 1996, 1999 and 2001 Nebraska GIS Symposium Planning Committees. Contributed articles to the Nebraska GIS Update newsletter, and maintained the Nebraska GIS/LIS Association website.

Served as IS Manager/Technician for the State Cartographer's Office. I had the opportunity to implement new (at the time) technologies such as an electronic bulletin board system (at amazing 14.4kbs dial-in connection speed), a first-for-the-office internal network and filesharing system, and experimented with one of the first systems for retrieval of spatial metadata over the brand-new "Internet." Near the end of my employment, I also played a significant role in writing and editing the 1995 "Wisconsin Coordinate Systems" handbook that still lives today!
