During the 2011-2012 school year I worked two days a week as a teacher and three days a week in support of the school as an assistant to the school’s principal. When working with the administration these were some of my duties:- Managed a Common Core initiative that completely transformed the way our primary teachers approached math instruction- Analyzed student data and made sure interventions were in place for struggling students- Planned school-wide events like Curriculum Night and Math Night- Served as acting principal when the school's principal was absent

From 2005 to 2013, I was a teacher leader at Torrey Pines Elementary School. Our school was designated a California Distinguished School in 2008 and a National Blue Ribbon School in 2013. As a teacher these were some of my contributions:- Collaboratively led my grade-level colleagues to standardize our curriculum and assessments so our expectations for students were consistent from classroom to classroom- Actively reached out to the families of my students, gave presentations to the parent foundation, and participated in community events- Worked closely with my second grade students and their families to make sure each and every student could gain proficiency with the California State Standards for our grade level and pass the California State Test.
