Devised, organised and delivered two successive annual Computer Science summer schools partnered with in2science UK and UCL Engineering, catering for promising sixth-form students from underprivileged educational backgrounds within the Greater London area.Curriculum included an annual trip to Google DeepMind, designing caterpillar robots to race in teams, creating games in JavaScript with rudimentary Q-learning AI, and learning to train basic neural networks for handwritten digit recognition.Received exceptional feedback from students in subsequent surveys, with 95% of students reporting that the course was extremely effective in preparing them for their applications to university.

Geneva Area, Switzerland

Year-long Masters project in association with CERN and UCL High Energy Physics, involving detection of the Higgs boson at the ATLAS Detector experiment.Implemented machine learning models in both Python and C++ to improve detector sensitivity to the H→bb Higgs decay mode. Principally used gradient-boosted decision trees in XGBoost and convolutional neural networks in TensorFlow on large-scale detector datasets with CUDA-enabled GPUs.Work on this ML-based analysis proved integral towards the official discovery of the new H→bb Higgs boson decay channel in July 2017, providing the first experimental evidence of the Higgs boson coupling to quarks.

Led a team of interns under Professor Nguyen Thanh at the Royal Institution, concerning research in the field of magnetic hyperthermia treatment, a revolutionary new cancer treatment. Patients are injected with metallic nanoparticles that gather at targeted areas of the body, which then eliminate tumours through thermal ablation.Designed a helper tool with Node.js, React.js and MongoDB that researchers could use to compare commercially available apparatus used in the field, and designed a biophysics experiment for first-year undergraduates to demonstrate the principles of the treatment.
