Delivered stability and security in the most complex, volatile, hostile and uncertain of internal security environments. Developed, trained and led a highly effective team of 200 before rapidly transforming it into an increasingly effective multi-national and multi-disciplined group of nearly 500 personnel, including 250 Afghans, whilst deployed in the most ravaged part of Afghanistan. Oversaw all aspects of risk management, human resources and a sophisticated equipment inventory of £50m.

A pivotal member of the team providing politically aware military advice and situational awareness upwards to Whitehall in order to inform the strategic commitment of UK forces to Afghanistan. The team was also responsible for coordinating the direction, development, deployment, sustainment and recovery of all UK joint forces and some international forces in Afghanistan.

Coordination and oversight of the team responsible for policy development and delivery of activity to recruit officers into the Army. Rated as the best officer to have held this post ‘for years.’• Responsible for a highly effective outreach programme requiring coordination, marketing and advertising to deliver a nationwide series of seminars to influencers and gatekeepers, undergraduates and school children as the public face of the Army officer recruiting effort.• Coordinated the delivery of the Officer element of a national TV, Radio, Internet and Press campaign through direct liaison with the marketing and advertising agencies contracted by the Ministry of Defence.• Increased both the numbers (by 15%) and quality of officer recruits during this period.
