In the role I was responsible for speaking to customers both before (pre-visit) and after (post visit) a mains replacement gas project was carried out. It was down to me to organise my time and make sure that I was able to cover all the projects in my area (Cambridgeshire/Bedfordshire). In the pre-visit the aims were to explain the project, answer any questions they would have regarding the work and what was required of the person/household I spoke too e.g. organising access. The main aim was to obtain key information from the customer such if there is anyone vulnerable within the property and obtain contact details. This required excellent communication skills because I had to deal with a vast array of people from different backgrounds/nationalities, so I had to be able to tailor my approach to suit everyone I speak too, to ensure the correct information was given/obtained. In the post visit I would speak to the customers to review how the project went for them and to try and identify any issues they may have so I can help resolve them to try and prevent complaints. This presented a great chance to influence customer scores as well as problem solve any outstanding issues. Show less

In this role I was primarily required to call organisations that were looking to add to their marketing team or to build relationships with hiring managers so that when they were looking to add to their team it would be Brand that was their first port of call. Once I had a role to recruit for and the terms had been agreed with the client, the position would be advertised using the job boards (writing the job advert myself). In addition to using the job boards, I searched for suitable candidates based on the brief from the client, using a variety of different methods such as utilising Brands database, the CV library’s on the Job boards and LinkedIn. Once I had a selected a pool of suitable candidates I would discuss in detail with each individual the various aspects of the opportunity that was on offer. After evaluating the potential candidates, I would submit the suitable applicants to the client thus beginning the interviewing process. I would then manage this process by liaising between both parties with the aim to organization interviews (fully prepping each candidate for each stage of the process) until the client decided on a successful candidate for the role. I would then give the job offer to the successful candidate and carry out any required negations regarding the package. In this role I was presented with many different challenges, with success often dependent on the way in which I approached both the clients and candidates, ensuring I maintained effective communication with both parties. In the estimating aspect of the role, I was required to provide quotations to potential clients in both the private and commercial sector, which could range from a single stair in a private dwelling, to a multimillion pound project in central London. Each quotation was bespoke to the project, time frame and specification of the stair. This process could be very time consuming; which helped to develop my time and prioritisation management skills. During this process I was required to speak with suppliers and compile quotes for the materials for more bespoke projects, these would then be used for the undertaking, thus meaning that all my quotations always had to be both competitive and accurate. I would then chase up each quotation so the sale could be complete. The other main focus of this role was being in charge of all the marketing content that the company published. I was able to build up their social media presence using Hootsuite to manage their Twitter, Facebook and Google+ accounts, which I grew from scratch using content from past projects. I was also in the process of developing a new website for the company using a CMS from an outsourced agency. In developing the website, I looked after all the SEO making sure that the content I was writing was rich enough to increase SEO but wasn’t too keyword heavy. The other main area of focus was developing E-Shots that I sent to both previous and potential clients. This required me to design a range of e-shots to be sent to different target markets in different areas. I would then track the results of each campaign and present the results to the General Manager of the company each month. Show less

This role enabled me to develop my multi-channel selling skills, account management, cold calling and client facing skills as well as gave me experience working for a global organization in the media.Account Management- I inherited a list of existing clients that I had to manage and maintain throughout my tenure. The aim was to develop each client so their yearly spend on advertising would increase, I would try to achieve this by cross selling into other relevant publications such as supplements. Business Development- A large part of the role was business development which was achieved by either cold calling new business or rebuilding relationships with lapsed clients. During the training process, I was taught how to cold call and this remained a key aspect of the role. To try and attract new business I would develop an advertising feature for each issue or a offer for bulk purchasing. Time Management- Once I had sold an advert I then had to help manage each campaign by ensuring all the correct copy is used and help manage the payments (tracking payments and spent via SAP). This meant that I had to manage my time very effectively to ensure a high level of customer service to my existing clients as well as enough time to seek new clients. Client Management- I worked on a market leading publication within the game angling sector which is a very affluent market. This meant that I was dealing with a very diverse range of clients thus had to tailor my approach to suit each client. This helped me develop my communications skills and enabled me to deal with people from any walk of life. Show less
