I lead Securian Financial's corporate legal team, which provides business-focused legal support for: - contracting;- mergers and acquisitions; - debt, reinsurance, and other enterprise transactions; - corporate governance; - employment and human resources;- sustainability; - privacy, cybersecurity, and responsible data use; - real estate; and- intellectual property.I'm direct. I succeed by building strong relationships and collaborating to solve problems. I push my team to support business goals in a practical way, mitigating risk without stifling innovation. I directly support M&A, governance, sustainability, and contracting. I also oversee legal operations and finance functions. I serve as corporate secretary and/or director for several of Securian Financial’s affiliates, including the Securian Financial Foundation. I enjoy working for a company committed to sustainability and building up the communities in which it works, and I'm grateful to be engaged in those efforts.I have prior experience with a national law firm representing financial institutions, insurance companies, and small businesses in litigation and operational compliance. My previous background was in banking operations and information technology. My favorite way to volunteer is building homes with Habitat for Humanity!
