Worked with two students with Down Syndrome (5th grade and 2nd grade) in and outside of the classroom. I created lesson plans, differentiated their work for inclusion in the classroom, and provided extra help in their classrooms with other students.

I assisted in out of the classroom with students who needed extra help learning how to read and write. I also volunteered in the after-school program Club De Lectura, which allowed me to help Spanish speaking students read and write in Spanish. Oftentimes these were students that I would work with during the school day with reading and writing in English.

In the Connections Department at Walmart my place of specialty is cellular phones. This particular store doesn't have a separated area from the Electronics Department, so I must know about all of the different electronic items in the department. With the cellular phones specifically I approach customers and assist them in finding the correct cellular plan for them. Being so close to the Canadian border means the needs of the people who come in looking for help are diverse and often require creative thinking to put together a plan on the spot that fits their unique needs. In addition, I need to be able to communicate with customers who do not speak English or have communicative disabilities. I keep track of the inventory for the contract phones, prepaid phones, and accessories in the department. There's a constant tension between getting the merchandise on the floor and looking in an appealing manner for customers to stop by and take a look and keeping the products safe from theft.

Port Orchard, Washington

I created curriculum and other related material for a leadership training course that I taught every Monday through Friday for about two hours each of those days. This course included biblical study, active leadership exercises, and teaching them to create their own sessions to teach to others.I created the weekly schedule for my staff. My staff worked in every part of the camp, so I oversaw the food service and cleanup every day, their competence and growth in camp counseling, and handling of the camp store.I worked with the other leadership staff to create and put into action ideas for advertising staff openings, staff recruitment, attracting more campers, and attracting church groups to come and take advantage of the facilities for their retreats and programming. This was done through radio and social media.

I assisted customers with their toy purchases and their concerns if they ever arose. In the R-Zone I helped educate and display how the various electronics in the department worked. I kept track of inventory and made sure the flow of top selling titles were kept in stock. There were many opportunities where I performed inventory duties in the backroom for the entire store's stock. I would occasionally unload the inventory truck.
