Techniques are only one part of the picture and have their place. The real DNA of an effective analyst requires grooming and understanding that there are simple rules that can be applied.Understanding the real need vs. the perceived need. These are not often in alignment.Deconstruct process to identify desired state and process deviations that prevent the outcome. The real work may not work as intended by the designer.Only define metrics that are based on action...define at least high level deficiencies, then Detect, Remediate, Monitor and Adjust. Don't build charts for the sake of having charts. If there is no actionable outcome, it's an eye chart.Lastly...well that is up to the reader, we can chat about this all day, I'm game. Anyway, always mentor your people to understand that the majority of the work they do is experimentation and may never be used. Experimentation is the fuel of innovation and most of it will never make it to the "Big Game". Don't be discouraged about learning to fall down, just get up again and take that next step. Show less
