In the early years of the firm’s growth, James would perform all the design and architectural services and then proceed to construct the project with Andrew in the field. The emphasis on craft and execution fully embraced the concept of the architect as “Master-Builder”. Artisan Builders constructed 90% of every project designed by Tekton Architecture over the 22 years the practice was in operation. Artisan Builders employed multiple crews self-performing as much as 75-85% of the work on its projects and was well-known in the industry as a detail-oriented construction company devoted to craft and high resolution in its work.
