A structural engineer by trade, Jami joined SMA as the Director of Firm Development after 18+ years of starting and growing a thriving engineering office as one of SMA’s trusted collaboration partners.   Raised in Montana, Jami attended Montana State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.   After working on airplanes at Boeing in Seattle, she transitioned into structural consulting before moving back to Bozeman to start a family and enjoy the great outdoors, opening the Bozeman office for DCI Engineers in 2005.  Through their collective work on projects across Montana, Jami developed a deep relationship with her SMA colleagues as the two firms built their businesses side-by-side.  Her passion for employee and client engagement and a desire to expand into other areas of the AEC field led her to join SMA in 2023.  As the Director of Firm Development, she is responsible for supporting the strategic plan and vision of the firm to promote, achieve and sustain a culture of exceptional client service and employee engagement.  Acting as a “SMA Ambassador”, Jami partners with the leadership team to collectively build and maintain a thriving community, facilitating connections between offices, employees, clients and project teams.  In her spare time, she enjoys skiing and hiking in the mountains while serving on the board of directors for several community and national non-profits.
