In my role at PFRC I conduct a wide range of social research across all aspects of personal finance. Some of my projects have included:● Review of role of bank 'gambling blocks' in helping people control their gambling spend● Analysis of geographical patterns of access to cash in the UK● Survey of debt collection staff on identification & support of vulnerable consumers● Construction of the 'Momentum Household Financial Wellness Index'● Review of the evidence on personal current account switching in the UK● Analysis of the University of Bristol's 'Widening Participation' programme

Throughout the fellowship I provided support to the Business and Transport Section of the House of Commons Library Research Service, working on research briefings and responding to MPs’ enquiries on matters related to financial inclusion, fintech and consumer vulnerability. I contributed to briefings on:● the response of financial services firms to the COVID-19 crisis and its effect on consumers’ financial situation;● Government debt collection practices;● access to cash;● financial technology; and● Central Bank Digital Currencies.

As a Research Intern and then Research & Communications Assistant, I assisted with the design, delivery and communication of multiple research projects, including: ● Analysis of crowdfunding as a means of fundraising for small, community-based projects; ● Mapping lending data from banks and Community Development Finance Institutions (CDFIs); ● Mixed-methods research into the factors influencing the development of Big Local areas; ● Evaluation of DCLG’s Community Economic Development programme.Also supported the work of the Community Investment Coalition, a campaign for fairer access to affordable finance for communities across the country.
