I was the Senior Adviser in the Privacy and Ombudsman team, which is the main point within the Ministry with the responsibility for dealing with complaints about the services provided by the operational arms of the Ministry.I provided appropriate and strategically sound responses to complaints about Ministry- provided or funded services that are made to the Ombudsman or Privacy Commissioner, and to inform improvements in performance, processes and practice.I worked with business groups across the whole Ministry, and staff from the Ombudsman’s Office, Office of the Privacy Commissioner and the Minister’s Office.I provided informed and considered advice to Ministry staff in relation to Ombudsman and Privacy complaints. I am also involved in issues management and wider strategic improvements across the Ministry.

Responsible for the production of high quality guidance and standards material relating to the applicable risks and hazards of the relevant industry. Playing a key role in WorkSafe NZ by producing highquality, effective duty holder guidance, standards and Approved Codes of Practice (ACOPs) material across a range of areas as determined by the Guidance and Standard’s overall work programme. Key activities undertaken include: the production of clear, plain English guidance and standards materials that reflect a good understanding of the practical environment in which they are to be implemented, as well as regulatory and legislative requirements; supporting Portfolio Managers to deliver on the work plan; and coaching and supporting the development of Advisors within the team. I also work closely with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. industry groups) to develop and evaluate the materials produced.

Produced and wrote a suite of ten high-quality, clear and legally endorsed agricultural guidance and standards materials aligned with WorkSafe NZ's strategic and tactical objectives. Assessing and investigating complaints of alleged breaches of the Local Government Act 1989 (Act) by councilors, senior council officers or a person with delegated responsibility within the Act

Responsibilities include:Assess, investigate and resolve multiple complaints in a timely manner with an aim to resolving them at an informal level wherever possible.Delivering authoritative and succinct oral and written outcomes to complainants and respondent agencies. This includes written outcomes to be sent under the hand of my Manager, Director, Deputy Ombudsman and Ombudsman.Providing succinct, informative and factual memorandums for the attention of executive Ombudsman staff. Carrying out concise, informed and considered assessment of complaints under the Whistleblower Protection criteria, as set out in the Whistleblower Protection Act 2001:

 Employed with a remit to investigate and champion tenants concerns and issues regarding quality of housing and repairs carried out by Edinburgh Building Services, providing constructive feedback, advice and resolutions to both EBS and the Tenant. Part of this remit extends to fostering new relationships between various Council departments, lobbying external stakeholders and bringing local residents groups into deliberative processes. This included organizing and attending residents meetings, taking on concerns and attempting to incorporate them into policy decisions or to lobby the appropriate department to provide an adequate resolution. I was charged with providing reports to internal and external stakeholder concerning performance and how best to improve said performance in a number of key areas, namely a reduction in complaints, and improvement in staff morale and an improvement in our proactive process to further customer satisfaction.  I provided administrative support to the Service Improvement Management Team. This includes diary management, drafting and proof reading of external mail to a variety of stakeholders, being a point of contact to queries from councillors, Members of Parliament and Council bodies.
