As a senior vice president and marketing director for First Community Bank, I’m responsible for the marketing efforts on behalf of all our Coastal Bend locations. I’ve been with FCB since 2001, almost my entire banking career, which began working in the Bookkeeping Dept. of a small community bank in Beeville , Tx. WHAT I DOWe’re a community bank where customers come first—we work to deliver that message, along with other key banking information. I am responsible for:• Developing messaging and marketing strategies and determining the best ways to deliver that messaging to the appropriate audience• Advertising plans, public relations efforts with local media, and creating and implementing bank programs and promotions—basically everything from commercials to koozies • Keeping communication channels open between us and the customer as well as all internal efforts • Developing and delivering information to the board, executive team, and employees through internal measures, including newsletters • Handling volunteer and community efforts… FOR OUR CUSTOMERSFCB is like a family, for both employees and customers. We develop personal relationships and really get to know the community—nothing replaces the face-to-face contact we have with customers. I make it a point as well, even though I'm back-office. Being a community bank means we make decisions locally and everything we do is literally reinvested right back into the community. … FOR FELLOW EMPLOYEESWhile some financial institutions have frequent turnover, FCB has an impressive tenure record, retaining employees for 5 years or more, many for much longer than that. One of my duties is developing opportunities to interact with one another in social activities and outings, such as holiday parties and bowling tournaments, as well as organizing our volunteer and community efforts, including our Others 1st program, presenting monetary donations to worthy community programs and organizations.
