The more time I spend working with people trying to help them make sense of the world they're in, the more I realise that many of the approaches and tools we have (mostly) blindly and unquestioningly accepted and rely upon, and that shape our choices and decisions, can often be flawed. Furthermore, we then (usually) selectively distil or distort reality to fit our own pre-existing beliefs. Not a great combination for sensible 'sense and meaning making'."So what?" you may ask. Well, my purpose is to find the opportunities to challenge the basis of the assumptions and prejudices that have been used to make sense of the world. In doing so, I feel it will be necessary to be (very) ok with the discomfort of 'not knowing the answers' in all situations - or even how to go about doing the answering. It also means being willing to embrace the ambiguity and complexity that is fundamental to the human condition, how we 'seek' to collaborate with each other and create and deal with the environment in which we exist.
