As a science educator, I provided students the opportunity to engage with the natural world and the scientific method.I graduated with a Master of Science in Ecology and Natural Resources at St. Cloud State University in 2011, having studied invasive species, impacts to succession, and restoration strategies in degraded prairie ecosystems. From 2009-2011, I conducted graduate-level research on invasive plant species management and pioneered the first steps of a comprehensive invasive species program at Camp Ripley, MN. As part of this role, I initiated the use of risk analyses, action prioritization, GIS and GPS-assisted mapping and evaluation, control methodologies and multi-year assessment of objectives related to the removal of invasive plant species that were present in this 50,000-acre facility. I am passionate about generating solutions for complex environmental issues, especially as they relate to biodiversity and ecosystem protection. Environmental education and action to address anthropogenic global impacts is crucial to our society's future. I'm glad I get to be a part of that!
