Jamie earned her BS in Marine Invertebrate Zoology, then pursued taxonomic research at the California Academy of Sciences as a master's candidate. During this time, she participated in the NSF GK-12 Teaching Fellowship, collaborating with the San Francisco Unified School District to deliver inquiry rich K-12 science education. Her passion for STEM teacher education led her to a 14-year tenure at San Francisco State University, where she was Director of Operations at the Center for Science and Math Education.In 2015, Jamie became a UCANR Master Gardener and founded Fog City Gardener, a garden education and consultancy. Her work in local food advocacy included co-founding Sisterhood Gardens in San Francisco. In Spring 2022, she received her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from San Francisco State University, focusing on anti-racist practices and climate/food justice in STEM education. She is a board member of Foodwise and currently serves as Director of Programs and Partnerships at The Gardens of Golden Gate Park, as well as an adjunct professor at San Francisco State University.Additionally, Jamie co-owns Urban Fauna Studio, founded the San Francisco Bazaar, and co-founded the Conference of Creative Entrepreneurs (CCE).
