At the beginning of my career, my primary interest was in print design. And I still enjoy working on projects such as invitations, booklets, signage, informational guides, and other similar print collateral. However, over the years, I have taken an interest in how people interact with the design in the world around them, specifically with technology. One of my favorite books from college is The Design of Everyday Things by Don Norman. I didn't know then how relevant that way of thinking would be later. As a designer, I think about the user, how they will experience the item I've designed. If it's a display, I think about what it looks like far away and close up and what might bring them to come closer and learn more. If it's a social graphic, I consider the platform, the important "just enough" content, what the goal of the piece is and even the journey that might start from that one graphic. I consider all the elements of the full user journey and how someone might experience it.
