Administrative Assistant For Member Engagement
Independent Contractor
While in transition, I am continuing to work for CFJ on an hourly, contract basis to coordinate the large MLK, Jr. Youth Day of Service and prepare CFJ to transition to a new Director of Programming. I will be continuing to move the summer programs forward during the interim, and helping to train my successor, while seeking full-time employment in my new state of Michigan.
Director Of Programming & Outreach
I am responsible for overseeing all of our programs, including our large summer programs, JusticeworX and ServiceworX, which combined served 650 middle and high school students in the summer of 2015. I work closely with our Director of Operations to ensure that the programs happen from start to finish, including logistics, food, transportation, program content, service sites, recruiting and registering participants and groups, materials, and many other details. A large portion of my time is spent on the sales/marketing of our programs to individuals, parishes, and schools. I am the primary contact for anything program-related, both academic and summer, for parents as well as partner schools and parishes. One of my biggest responsibilities includes creating and maintaining relationships with pastors, Directors of Religious Education, youth ministers, campus ministers, and parish volunteers as well as social service agencies and service sites. I also oversee our social media presence.
Faithjustice Fellow
I moved to New Jersey to participate in a one-year volunteer program. My assignment included working with and assisting the Program Team in developing social justice and faith-based curriculum and prayer experiences for middle school and high school Confirmation programs, summer service immersion trips, and academic year service and justice programming; facilitating the same experiences; coordinating our Appalachia immersion weeks start to finish; setting up service sites and maintaining relationships with social service agencies; presenting to students and parents about our programs; and recruiting students to attend and volunteers to staff these experiences. I acted as a consistent presence at our largest parish contract, facilitating 30 half-day retreats. Acting as CASA Retreat Center Hospitality Coordinator included planning, preparing, and cleaning up meals for up to 20+ each week and weekly coordination of volunteers for our community gathering, Soup & Psalms; light cleaning and upkeep of the retreat center; hosting groups who rent our space approximately twice/month; and being on-call for emergencies. The Fellowship also included some non-profit administration experience, including Human Resources (intake, hiring, and training of summer staff) directly with our Executive Director and Development (work on our Gratitude Gala, our largest fundraiser of the year) with our Director of Development.During the summer of 2012, I was Team Leader for three weeks of middle school service day camps at parishes around New Jersey, supervising a staff and running program for 14 – 28 students each week, and assisting as staff on a high school week in Appalachian West Virginia for 48 students.
Area Contact For Michigan
While working as a Director of Youth Ministry, I was invited and appointed by Life Teen International Parish Outreach Director to act as local point of contact and advisor for all Life Teen-subscribing youth ministers in the state of Michigan. Communicated with the International office, and disseminated information and updates. Managed the Sales Force database and keep regular contact with the other youth ministers in Michigan.
Administrative Assistant And Special Projects Coordinator
This was a second job to complement my full-time Youth Ministry position. Responsible for basic office work and receptionist tasks, as well as reporting to the owner on special projects. These included developing more effective office operational procedures, creating new office documents, and developing social networking and marketing tools.
Director Of High School And Young Adult Ministry & Director Of Youth Confirmation
My work at this 2,000-family church required recruiting, interviewing, training, and supervising a volunteer Core team, parents, and others in planning and facilitating weekly youth group for 30 – 70 students as well as three to four weekend retreats per year, one to four special events and service projects per month, and ongoing activities to help with the faith development of the 400+ high school teens and many young adults of the parish. I planned, ran and/or oversaw six or more major fundraising efforts each year. I introduced a new curriculum for the eighth grade Confirmation preparation program and adapted the program to fit our needs, as well as recruited and trained catechists and facilitated religious education classes, activities, and retreats for more than 90 eighth grade Confirmation candidates per year.
Coordinator Of Middle School Youth Ministry & Youth Confirmation
My first position out of college (which I actually began while finishing my last semester of school) required recruiting and coordinating high school, young adult and parent volunteers to run our weekly middle school youth group for 20 – 40 students, as well as retreats, social events, and activities each month to help with the faith development of the approximately 250 middle school students of the parish.I also oversaw the eighth grade Confirmation preparation program for about 90 students.
Preschool Teacher & Summer Madhatter Program Coordinator
I began at Looking Glass by working in the MadHatter Program (summer care for school-aged children) during summer 2001. In the fall, I was hired on as a preschool teacher, and taught the 3 year old class (8 children) for academic year 2001-02. Summer 2002 I planned and coordinated the MadHatter Program, then taught the 4 year old class (10 children) for 2002-03, while being back in school full-time. I coordinated MadHatters again summer 2003 before leaving to finish college and pursue employment in my chosen field.
