Responsible for the areas of product development, production, materials management, Information Technology and general corporate management. In addition to the production team and IT staff, I managed an engineering team of up to 17 software, mechanical and electronic design engineers as Unitec developed and introduced a new Windows XP embedded kiosk.I managed the development of several custom versions of software to adapt the company’s products for major customers. This included handling contract negotiations and project management with the customer.

Directed and managed transition of the technical group from Suntronic to Dresser Wayne processes and procedures and was the software development manager for the Crystal Lake group. I worked with the Wayne transition team on joint product strategies for POS systems. I managed the effort to re-train the development group in Crystal Lake to develop C++ software for Wayne’s Nucleus POS product. The Crystal Lake group successfully completed several Nucleus projects including an interface to a new credit card network.

Responsible for a staff that varied from 11 to 25 full time software, hardware and mechanical engineers and technicians located in Crystal Lake and Nashville TN. Directed development of a new generation of POS terminal with new electronics, packaging and software. Directed the development of several new credit card network interfaces. I was involved in the acquisition of a competitive company gave Suntronic access to a PC based POS terminal based on Windows NT. As a member of the NACS Standards committee for Retail Transactions, I helped create the X9’s TG-23, A Terminal to Host implementation guideline for the ANSI 8583 protocol.
