Jan is a Senior Structural Geology Advisor with 20 years of international exploration and field development experience and has worked in more than >100 basins worldwide. He received his Dipl. Geol., hons. degree (equiv. MSc, hons.) from Clausthal University, Germany (1998). After working assets in Libya and Argentina for Wintershall, he moved on to Repsol’s specialized Fold- & Thrustbelt-Team in Buenos Aires in 2007. He was involved with 8 exploration wells in the Neuquén Basin of Argentina, several of them discoveries. He then worked for Talisman Energy in Calgary, evaluating New Venture opportunities in N-Africa, the Middle East and SE-Asia where he also acquired skills in commercial, strategic and business planning.In 2011, he founded Falcon Geo-Consulting, offering his expertise in structurally complex areas and, more specifically, his structural geo-modelling skills. He has profound expertise in world-wide fold- & thrust belt provinces, strike-slip settings, salt tectonics, extensional tectonics and fractured reservoirs.Jan is a hands-on problem solver with strong team leading and analytical competences. His geological advice, directly and indirectly, has resulted in several hydrocarbon discoveries in recent years. He has published more than 30 papers and talks on hydrocarbon exploration workflows in several languages. He is considered an international expert on complex structural settings.
