Wright Research & Archives is dedicated to researching the history and residents of early southern Oregon and compiling that research into one convenient database. Director, Jan Wright, has studied the region's early history for over 20 years, developing a deep knowledge of its unique story and people. In addition, Wright Research & Archives has developed the most comprehensive and up-to-date surname database in southern Oregon, the Jackson County Database. Wright Research & Archives provides a variety of archival, research and transcription services for local southern Oregon businesses, individuals, and organizations. Services include: - Organizing and properly preserving historical documents. - Creating archival space for storing records. - Developing searchable databases and catalogs. - Writing articles for newsletters and local press. - Researching hard-to-find information about a specific person in a specific record. - Transcribing historical documents including letters and diaries.

As Archivist at Harry & David I have arranged and preserved their historical files, created a searchable database for accessing files, and am responsible for continuously updating the archive with contemporary materials as they are created. Cataloged donated items and documents on PastPerfect software, researched to determine provenance, measured, cleaned, and stored the items for easy retrieval. As the library assistant, I helped patrons with their research questions and specialized in vintage photograph identification. I made finding aids and databases to retrieve the documents that were often not cataloged. Participated in exhibit design and installation on the Britt and the Oregon Trail exhibits at the Jacksonville museum in Jacksonville, OR.

Developed programs and workshops to promote the understanding of history and created hands- on exhibits in the Children’s and Jacksonville Museums. Taught outreach and in-house programs about various historical subjects. Conducted cemetery tours all over the county. Developed junior docent programs and trained them to be docents at the museum and during the summer reading program at all the county libraries. Helped created the Hooked on History newsletter distributed to Junior historians. Coordinated outside speakers and storytellers, musicians etc. to events at the museums.
