About Jan Dynnesen
IT architect and technical project manager with a background as software developer. For the past 10 years I've been doing mainly IT architecture and technical project management. I prefer and usually cover the more technical roles, but I have hands on experience with all roles in an IT project, customer side and vendor side. A 360˚ understanding of IT projects, experience with all project roles and the ability to evaluate all project deliverables, are probably my strongest points and the skills I use most frequently. I have participated in over 40 projects and I'm confident in my abilities. Assign me to your most complex and troublesome IT project, and I will pinpoint exactly what is wrong, and how to bring it back on track. As an architect I have a technical focus. I typically take roles such as solution architect, technical architect, technical project manager, lead developer or scrum master. I emphasize maintaining all my qualifications and staying functional as both an architect, a developer and a project manager, as I often end up needing all these qualifications, in the projects I participate in, no matter what role I'm assigned.Core competencies:* General project management* Agile management and development* Offshore management* Software engineering (Windows/Web/Database)* Software design (OO and database)* Application and data architecture* Enterprise and information architecture* At the moment specializing in Cybersecurity and AI (Both are work in progress)Solution architect experience 10 years full time. It was kind of a hard job, as I would frequently get the worst projects, that the customers didn't want to do themselves. But also a very rewarding experience where I got the chance to work for very different companies, with very different project - often in multiple roles. But having to move on, every time I got a good relation with a customer, having to start from scratch with a new, was exhausting in the long run. So while I learned a lot I eventually moved on, because I wanted a more stable position with colleagues I could build a longer working relationship with. Show less
It Project Manager
Project management and a little development in C++. A somewhat unspecified role with no clear responsibilities. A general lack of meaningful tasks, possibly because the company was restructuring. I dislike idling, so I moved on quickly.

Development in the first .NET (beta), and the first version of the .NET framework to be commercially launched. This included writing customized COM wrappers and marshalling objects between managed and unmanaged memory. Ever wonder about the importance of refcount and exactly what happens to a pointer when garbage collection runs. Try writing your own COM wrapper. Then you'll know.Other notable achievements includes debugging a custom made ADO provider for Outlook, written by my boss, an excellent developer who always, almost completed the tasks he set out to do. And debugging a custom made grid, written in C++. This one could actually cause BSOD, and did so frequently, which made it somewhat difficult to debug. Lots of multiprocessed and multithreaded debugging as well. In fact I remember this period as constantly debugging and cleaning up after somebody else. Always with a deadline and a lot of trouble if I couldn't get it working. Thinking back, I think that maybe I don't really like debugging very much. But I became quite good at it, which is probably a good thing.Technologies include: Outlook, IIS, SQL Server, Tamino server, VB6, VBA, C++ (unmanaged), C++ (managed), VB.NET, C#, ASP, HTML, CSS, javascript, XML Show less

As a new and inexperienced developer I made it overly complex and struggled to get it working properly to ever changing customer specifications. When I finally completed it, I was so relieved and the customer was really happy. I got a lot of development experience and it bought me access to my first full time developer job, after which I soon forgot my long struggle. 10 years after I was contacted by the customer because they experienced an error in the system. It turned out the system had been running flawlessly for 10 years, without any kind of support. They were using it intensively every day, completely dependent upon it and worried that I wouldn't be willing to fix it. I was so happy and proud that I offered to fix it for free. They insisted on paying, so I gave them a nice discount. The error was that the database had reached it's maximum size. The fix was creating a historical database and moving old data there, which got the system running again. This is probably the worst code I've ever written, but in a sense also the best.In this period I also taught database design as a freelance teacher at a IT course and certification vendor Show less
