During my 3 years at university I maintained a part-time sales assistant job at Blockbuster, this gave me the experience of managing my university degree whilst working and increasing my multi-tasking skills.Working in customer relations also provides ample experience in dealing with unsatisfied customers and negotiating to reach a preferable conclusion. This year long placement gave me ample work experience, although my official position was managing the Learning Resource department; which required budget reports, resource inventory, researching future successful acquisitions, meeting with suppliers, and appointing, overseeing and training library assistants.My unofficial position included the management and organisation of ACT days, focussing on alternative curriculum activities.I planned three of these events, organising two full days for the sixth form based on the ACT topic; The activities varied, to conclude the Environment day I organised a question time with guests, including out MP, and the Asylum and Immigration day included talks from the Home Office. Organising these events from scratch gave me the opportunity tolearn scheduling, liaising, and the importance of communication to produce a successful event. I was also given the chance to create press releases which resulted in a story in our local paper.
