I am Professor of Professional Legal Education at Nottingham Law School, the law faculty of Nottingham Trent University in England. I am co-director of its Centre for Legal Education, and I am a solicitor, having qualified in 1990.I joined NLS in 1993 to work on its new vocational course for aspiring solicitors, and then moved into work on course design. I designed and delivered a number of courses – both award bearing at master’s level, and for CPD – in the field of civil litigation, basing my design around extensive simulations involving skills, knowledge, diagnosis and solutions, experiential and reflective learning. Fuelled by the challenges in this field, I then completed a PhD on the learning of early career lawyers.I have worked on a number of substantial design, consultancy or research projects for professional bodies and professional regulators in the UK and elsewhere. I have carried out research and consultancy into professional legal education in Armenia, Canada, the CARICOM nations (Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Montserrat, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago), England and Wales, Hong Kong, Republic of Ireland, Mauritius and Mongolia.Skilled in Analytical Skills, Lecturing, Instructional Design, Academic Writing, and Policy Analysis.
