I am an educator with experience in leadership in higher education (University and TAFE). Social reform is my driving force, and supporting others around me. My leadership skills were recognised in 2021 when I was awarded A Griffith University, Griffith Health Educational Leadership award. My quality of teaching was recognised in 2011 when I was awarded a Dean’s Highly Commended Certificate. As a researcher, I have proven it is possible for a dental technician to achieve a Doctorate of Philosophy. The Griffith University Health group, acknowledged the significance of my achievement by awarding me a Health Excellence Award in Research – First Dental Technician in Australia with a PhD. My research continues today with collaborations with colleagues in Norway, and Ireland, which I thoroughly enjoy. I also enjoy supervising others on their research projects, while teaching research skills to undergraduate students. Colleagues know me as an open and honest character who takes action and enjoys collaboration. I enjoy work but I also know when it is time to get on my bike, ride to the beach and relax. Over many years, I spent a lot of time and energy in personally developing an internationally recognised dental technology curriculum. Now I share that with a great a team of people.
