Personal Profile: Obtained Medical Doctorate at the University of Melbourne and a PhD in Biological Management of Tendinopathy from the University of Western Australia. Has a Fellowship of the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians and is currently Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences. Jane has over 35 years of clinical experience in a busy sport and exercise medicine practice and has worked with elite sports teams and community organisations. Her passion for lifestyle interventions for healthy populations has been demonstrated through extensive work on committees ranging from community events such as triathlons and aerobics to winter sports and Olympics (Sydney 2000 & Lillehammer 2016). Jane leads by example and is currently competing in master’s rowing. Her board experience crosses clinical medicine (Sports Medicine Professionals 1989-2020) professional organisations and hospitals (Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians 1995-7, Epworth Hospital MSK Unit 2015-2016), medical education and advisory (Novartis 2020-2020, Bioventus Global 2014-2020) and the NFP sector (Joint Health Institute 2019- & Biathlon Australia 2020-2021. Her appointment to the Executive Board of Biathlon Australia was to help lead governance reform. Jane currently works with Bioventus Inc as Medical Director International.Board and Executive Success:As a clinician, Jane is well known for her work with patients from young athletic right through to active older people. She practiced evidence-based care and has contributed to national guidelines for osteoarthritis (2018) and published on return to exercise post COVID19 (2021). As an academic and researcher, Jane was engaged by the Graham Clark Institute (2018) to develop funding models for the management of osteoarthritis from prevention and lifestyle intervention to treatment and possible cure. Jane remains on the steering committee of the AEHA, where she and the team won the prestigious APEC Business Ethics Lighthouse Award for service to the Asia-Pacific region in 2018. Jane has worked on medical advisory boards with particular success at Bioventus Global, where she has contributed to many areas including assessing product commercial viability through to clinical trial design, reimbursement, marketing and reach into medical markets including behavioural change components in consumer areas. Her ethics and integrity were the driver for her role with Biathlon Australia.
