Jane McGregor has been in the field of education for the whole of her career and currently works in educational research.After 20 years teaching Humanities in local village colleges and following the completion of an M.Ed. at Cambridge University , where she lives in the city , Jane became a Research Fellow in Educational Policy at Lucy Cavendish College. During her Ph.D. studies, focused on spatiality and schools, she worked for the National College for School Leadership's Networked Learning Communities research and development project, which at one time included 5% of all English schools: This concentrated on bringing together research and the practical experience of professionals and students - she led a team exploring and extending 'Student Voice'. . A further project, with Nottingham University, researched ‘Creative Whole-School Change’. She has edited a book series on school improvement and regularly contributes to journals through articles and reviewing. She has a strong interest in, and commitment to, democratic education.Since 2012 Jane has been privileged to research with Nottingham Recovery College, the second to be created in the UK, and is now working on an ImROC project to explore and identify the ‘Defining Characteristics of Recovery Colleges’. This is particularly timely given the rapid growth in the number of Recovery Colleges in the UK, where they are a unique form, with significant interest shown both nationally and internationally. She has a long-term commitment to making a difference in education, particularly through working at the interface of research and practice.
