I direct the Homegrown Minneapolis local food program for the City of Minneapolis. I staff the 21 member Homegrown Minneapolis Food Council, an official city board that meets monthly. In addition, I initiate ordinance changes around growing and processing food, interacting with numerous community organizations involved in gardening and urban agriculture, supervise interns and research fellow projects on local food policy, publish a monthly newsletter and represent the City at local food events. In addition, serve as a guest lecturer at St. Thomas University on the functions of Congress and the federal policy process.

As a member of the Board of Trustees I served on the Executive, Academic Affairs and Nomination Committee and chaired the Student Services Committee. Also endowed the Father Tom and Sister Grace Nash Fellowship which provides funding for student overseas service projects.

I represented the National Association of Animal Breeders on the USDA Technical Advisory Committee which discussed the U.S. position on trade negotiations within the context of our respective industries.
